There were several lines, we ended up in the line for people that hadn't pre-ordered the book. We got there just before midnight, so we missed the trivia, dress up contest, and goody bags...
But I still ended up with the best prize of all! An awesome weekend reading! I LOVED it! And I was surprised again and again. What did you all think?
I called my mom on the way home. She was in a carload of people fresh from their own midnight party and someone was reading it aloud to everyone in the car! Too, funny!
You know what I keep thinking? How insane it must be for Stephanie Meyer. To think that all over the country millions of people were lined up to buy something she wrote. That has to be a little intense. I wonder how many sold that first night? And the first day. The coolest thing about it is that she dreamed it first, was a stay at home mom, a literature major who never had tried to write something of her own. I love her story.

Oh, I'm jealous. You're the first person I know who's finished already. I'm waiting on Papi or my sister to finish reading so I can borrow a copy.
I wanted to go to a party, but then I didn't have any money to justify spending on the book, especially when I know there will be at least a dozen copies in my ward available by the end of the week. I did go to a Harry Potter party for book 7 last year, and that was really fun. Glad you liked it. I'm super excited to read it soon.
I had to hurry and finish so that Chris could read it! At least that was my excuse.
I loved it, and I love that Stephanie Meyer's goal at first was to make $10,000 to pay off her mini-van.....little did she know!!!!
Shauna!!! Thanks so much for leaving a comment on my blog! I completely agree with you and I think think she will---but I'm sorry I had to delete it because that is a HUGE spoiler. I was COMPLETELY shocked when I read that part of the book....and quite frankly a little disturbed! Were you? Of course I didn't end up being disturbed with it. And I agree with you on the thing that you hate. ....Hmm. we need a safe place to discuss this.
Finished last night... I was so excited about it that I got James started reading "Twilight" Sunday afternoon... he finished it and started "New Moon" last night. I love passing on my obsessions to people! OK... so I just deleted a whole bunch of comments, and realized I wanted to talk about it alot! We should get together with everyone who finished and have a "book club" get together! P.S. did you read "The Host"??? So good!
I'm glad you deleted it...I almost left another post telling you to. I was a little disturbed by part of the book, too. It was just a little too weird for me. I know it all came out ok but, still, that was weird. I have a safe place actually! I have a relief society blog that we had to end so there is nothing there and no one reading it. We could leave comments there and only invite those who are done to read it? When is Kathryn going to get her internet? I am dying to see more pictures of her house and kids!
Amber--I'm glad chris isn't the only one! (He will be too) and lets plan one that would be really fun! Maybe we can talk Heather into hosting it, since she is in a central location to a lot of our mutual friends...
Shauna--great! I'm in. I have no idea about katie? I have tried calling her with no luck. She must be too busy reading.
Shauna--post something and we can start leaving comments. I will put up a link on my blog once you do!
Wasn't it fantastic?? The chapter when Bella was getting ready to meet Edward on the beach was so sweet. I loved the whole thing, and I'm so pathetic I'm re-reading right now. Great blog, keep it up!
I finished on Saturday and now David is reading it. I think most guys who give the books a chance will enjoy them. David's enjoyed all of them, too, but both of us really think The Host is a superior novel, just more tightly written & that sort of stuff.
