spring green

I am loving the fresh green of spring that is popping up all around me!  It is just the prettiest green!  And this darling little fairy habitat that sprung up in my backyard.
This week I did all the things my little sis recommended.  I made her recipe for broccoli soup. So good!  Read The Alchemist (or listened to).  LOVED IT!  And watched Little Manhattan.  Adorable!  It's like a regular romantic comedy only with kids. So cute.
And I've been busy designing my second collection. ...
What fun things did you guys do this week?

St. Patrick's Day

Photobucket
On Tuesday Olivia skipped school to go to the zoo.

Olivia's favorite thing at the zoo was the food.  This is what she ate:  2 chicken nuggets, 2 packs of fruit snacks, 2 granola bars, marshmallows, pretzels, a few bites of a hotdog, a huge bag of cotton candy in .5 seconds, and then she ate the remains of Reagan's ice cream cone and Addison's sno cone.

Number of times she threw up after we got home: 3.

Am I the best mom ever, or what! (She said with sarcasm).

Photobucket
Bentley's favorite things at the zoo:  Hyacinth Macaws.
Everyone was wearing green.  It was kind of freaky.   We would look out into the vast sea of kids and all we could see was green.

Bentley had two rocks in his hand the whole day.  Alyx had a lizzard and Belle.

Yo Ho Ho and a juice box

This is my husbands buddy Derek.  He's pretty much awesome.  He sings and writes songs.  And they're good (really good).  AND  he builds stuff.  Really cool stuff like houses and this pirate ship.  It's kind of a funny story.

He wanted to build his boys a pirate ship bed.  But his go-orgeous wife Christina said, "Uh...no."  (She's surprisingly practical.  I thought pretty people were supposed to be frivolous and plain people were supposed to be practical.  Or is that just silly?  I digress....) So Derek said, "I'll build it outside then!"  And that was the beginning of Pirate Play Ships.  He has been building them near and far ever since.
PhotobucketSometimes my husband goes with him.  Once they went to Arkansas and built one in an ice storm.  They had a huge tent and heaters to keep them going.   They also went to Mississippi to build one on the coast.  Good times...good times (or so I'm told).   The next step is a mobile one that Derek is offering to take to birthday parties!  Kids will love that!  My kids certainly love visiting "uncle Derek".  After dinner while Christina and I chatted and poor Chris was at work...Derek took all 4 kids outside in the pitch dark.  He gave them each a flashlight.  They climbed up on the ship and told "scary" stories!  How cute is that!
In the following picture narrative I'm going to try and use as much cheesy pirate lingo as I can!  Here I go:
"Ahoy there, me matey!"

Photobucket"Arghh"  (Bentley really got into character when D came out with the pirate garb.)

Maps are a little harder to follow than GPS. (Don't I know it!)

I really need to stretch my pirate vocabulary.

Today I'm thankful that I kind of figured out how to do a photo collage! go me.

this and that

We have been having the best weather lately (well up until today).  I have been loving my morning runs!  And just enjoying oustide in general.

Today I'm thankful for the warmth of yesterday.
ps.  I linked my blog to facebook.  Just because I figured out I could.  I'm trying to decide if that's annoying or not...

inspiring

Have you read this?  Especially this?  Well you should.  And if you haven't read her blog before then start at the beginning.  Be inspired by her.  Then pray for her.  I can't stop thinking about this lovely woman and wishing her the best.

Today I'm thankful for Stephanie Nielson.
