And the winner is....

I really enjoyed all of the funny things you all have done. Thanks so much for sharing. My story for the winner and all the rest of you is this:
Food is the way to a man's heart...Right? Well that's what I thought in college. My friend, Martha, and I planned a date and we were going to make the guys dinner. Our plan was to make my mom's delicious "Chicken that makes it's own gravey" recipe. I called her to get the recipe, but just wrote down what I thought I needed to know in a kind of vague sort of way. One of the ingredients was evaported milk. And since I was 18 or 19 hadn't cooked many things other than treats, I got it confused with sweetened condensed milk. So the food was in the oven and I kept checking it. It didn't quite look right. So I kept tasting it and it didn't quite taste right, either. So I kept putting it back in waiting for it to taste better. I don't remember how I figured it out. But the only one who ate any of that chicken was Martha. She was so so funny. I have a million funny Martha stories. At any rate that's my story.

As for the winner....it was a very difficult decision but I'm gonna have to say Mindy. And since she doesn't eat chicken, I'm going to send her the recipe and the stuff to make what should have been made with the sweetened condensed milk. SO SO yummy!

whoo hoo!!!

that is a great story! I still think about Martha every once in awhile. You two were two odd ducks in a pond when you got together! (And I mean that in the nicest way possible!)

Hey, do you remember whatsherface Danielle from freshman year who seemed to pour on her southern accent whenever any guys were around? I found her to be rather obnoxious. Well it turns out that she and David got to be quite good friends while they worked at the LDS telefund together a couple of years after that. I found a picture of her in his stuff or he got a card from her and I couldn't believe it. Honestly, I questioned his taste in friends for a while after that. Luckily we weren't married yet. Eventually I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt, as we were all freshman and immature and obnoxious in our own ways.

That's funny. Yeah, I used to make fun of her for that. She's not like that anymore now that she's married with two little girls. We have stayed friends until recently. She moved to Chatanooga. Remember those stinky turtles she gave us?

I agree. It's not so much the marshmallow snowmen that's silly. It's leaving them at peoples doors. I mean who doesn't want to step out their door and on to sticky gooey marshmallows.

Katie, during her freshman year, called Buffy to get that recipe. Only problem is Buffy doesn't make that she makes a similar but different cheesy chicken bake. She told Katie she knew there was butter in it but didn't know how much. Somehow the two of them came up with an amount. A much too large amount. Katie said when it was done the butter had all pooled at the top and it looked like a "lake of butter."

Since I don't have a blog I've decided to hijack yours a bit. When we moved to the coast all of Buffy's family said they'd like to visit sometime. But most of it was the vague, "Wow it looks really pretty we'll have to visit." Well since we've decided in recent weeks that it's all but certain we won't live her past next summer I thought I should tell everyone that if they want to come visit they better do it next summer. And I carried it a bit further by even suggesting we have a family reunion. Well I don't just suggest things I become completely consumed by them. So I sent out a three page manifesto suggesting a reunion, giving suggested rules, activities and prices etc. Well Buffy's siblings are pretty terrible communicators. Though I did get two response right away. One from her oldest sister's husband saying they didn't think they could come and one from her oldest brother's sister saying they would definately come. Then I started freaking out because no one else was responding. Well today I ran across an article talking about how Baby Einstien and other educational videos weren't good for kids under age 2 because it stunted their speach development. Then it was talking about TV in general and how it leads to low attention spans. That's when I realized I had only sent the email to my in-laws two days ago, that some of them probably hadn't even read it yet, and that I had definately watched too much television as a child.

I meant oldest brother's wife in that last one.

I wonder if that's why Everett really doesn't talk yet. He only watches 2 hours of Television a day and sometimes he doesn't watch any television at all. Well, in our family we don't have "TV" we only have movies. I haven't watched a television program in a really long time, and Everett has never watched one except for videos that we get him, like baby Einstien. I think I watched way too much TV as a child. I am so impatient. I'm getting better, but when Preston and I were first married that's the thing that bugged him the most about me. Now unfortunately I have another addiction that took the place of TV...reading. I love to read. Lately I've been buying all these books, and what should take you a week to read takes me days. Preston say's I have no self control. Anyway, if you want to read a good book read "The Golden Compass". You know the new movie coming out with Nicole Kidman and magical creatures like large polar bears that can talk. Well, it's based off a book and not just one book but a whole series. I'm so excited. Anyway, my comment was much longer that I wanted it to be. With lots of bad spelling.
